Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is the uncontrolled and abnormal growth of skin cells. The incidence of skin cancer is rising faster than any other solid tumor and can be determined as such:

a) Basal cell carcinoma
b) Spine cell carcinoma
c) Melanoma

1. Basal cell carcinoma – This is the most common and presents typical characteristics.

2. Spine cell carcinoma – It is the second most common kind of skin cancer, it is rising faster than the previous one and can spread from the skin into other tissues and organs.

3. Melanoma – This is the deadliest form of skin cancer, it is best treated when it is diagnosed early and can be fatal when diagnosed late. The first warning sign of melanoma is characterized by an increase in size in the horizontal and/or the vertical with pigmented elevated asymmetric and irregular area.

Prevention should be taken in appropriate time so that tumors can be successfully removed.

In order to differentiate benign lesions of melanoma, the ABCD rule is used. It was implemented in the Dermocospy –Video System – SVD to classify computerized skin lesions through a morphological analysis of digital images.
With this system of support to medical diagnose, it can extract by computer Asymmetric, Border irregularity, Color that is not uniform and a Diameter greater than 6 millimeters on the lesion.
